Right now, my body is recycling old cells, clearing out inefficient mitochondria, and damaged cells that lead to chronic illnesses and cancer. I didn’t take any drugs to do this—I simply stopped eating. What I’m talking about is a state of Autophagy and mitophagy, and it’s a direct result of fasting.
The month of January is notably the month of change and improvement. Maybe you’re starting a new diet or a new job. All employees receive a welcome letter before starting in the company. One thing I ask of them is to take advantage of growing physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight—A quote taken from the Boy Scouts of America. And that doesn’t mean they’re not already those things, but we all can be improved in those areas beyond our current point.
“If you want to change instantly, clean-up your room”—says famous university Professor Jordan Peterson. The idea behind it is even though all things in your life aren’t going well, you can change and improve one thing starting with your room, your kitchen, or office or anywhere that needs organized. This has been proven to declutter your mind and psychologically improve your mood. I believe this is why we all love cleaning at Priority. You can’t release stress from a desk.
CLEANUP YOUR DIET
I’m reading a book called The Obesity Code, by Dr. Jason Fung. He is a nephrologist (kidney specialist) and is one of the world’s leading experts in weight-loss and type-2 diabetes reversal. He breaks down the hormones that cause and stop our weight gain and spreads awareness of how fasting can change your life. He tells about the fallacies of the food pyramid and our distorted views on what’s heathy. I’m not going to talk about the whole book in my blog, but you should check it out if you’re interested in living a long, healthy life.
Here are some of what I found to be the most thought-provoking quotes in Dr. Fung’s book:
“In 1988, the American Heart Association decided that it would be a good idea to start accepting cash to put its Heart Check symbol on foods of otherwise dubious nutritional quality.”
“The difference between glucose and fructose will literally kill you.”
Both Agave nectar and sweeteners derived from stevia are highly processed. In that regard, they are not any better than sugar itself—a natural compound derived from sugar beets.”
Obesity is effectively the result of Government policy,”
During a prolonged fast, your body can make new glucose from its fat stores.”
CLEANUP YOUR WORKOUT
Ok, that title doesn’t really make sense, but roll with it. According to Dr, Fung, “Diet does 95 percent of the work and deserves all the attention; so, logically, it would be sensible to focus on diet. Exercise is still important—just not equally important. It has many benefits, but weight-loss is not among them!” In my company, one of the best benefits is weight-loss and stress-relief. As long as you’re not eating junk food and fasting past sixteen hours, you will lose weight. The best workouts are the ones where you’re not thinking about it. We have a few cleaning accounts that challenge you physically, which makes for a healthier work-life balance.
CLEANUP YOUR SYSTEMS
This actually applies to me and my company. Everything wrong in this company is my fault simply because I decided to allow mishaps or fail to create systems. Even policies in place, like “Dusting Wednesdays,” isn’t perfect or successfully followed. Our Commercial Manager noted to me once that dusting should really be implemented daily, not weekly. Seeing the results, it made perfect sense and we changed the policy. This year I aim to improve our company systems entirely, so as to perfect our hiring, HR, training, termination, promotions, on-boarding, cleaning, customer feedback, employee & customer retention, and leadership among managers. These are the things I live for. Business is a living, breathable, moldable, and growable creature—without whom, none of us would be here.
