There’s advice that I leave all our cleaners before they go out for the week to their designated buildings, and that is to leave evidence of being there. What do I mean? Well, first off, I should specify that we want good evidence. I wasn’t looking for them to arrange their office furniture or trip the alarm system. Things like, removing carpet stains or wall marks or even keeping the dust level down was always suggested. But unfortunately, those things erased any cleaning that they had done the night before. There had to be a better, more noticeable way!
In our last Manager’s meeting, the five of us put our heads together to create a good list on the board for our staff members to start practicing. Note the picture above, written on the easel that we use in all our weekly meetings, has over ten to twelve suggestions of how to leave good noticeable cleaning. We came up with two great ideas each—See below!
Spruce up the floor finish by buffing or refinishing client’s VCT or terrazzo floors!
Fold the toilet paper in each restroom.
Leave table tents showcasing sterilized surfaces
Leave sticky notes to customers if there’s building issues, consumables, etc.
Emailing to customers, sending our manager inspection reports.
Organize janitor closets
Flip shower curtain over after each deep clean,
Police the parking lot, clean up the debris in bushes outside
Blueing the toilets (a signature of P.C.)
Lift blinds after dusting.
These are things we are aiming to do for our customers to show them that we appreciate them. Having a presence is so important in this industry, which is why we strive to go above and beyond!
